were commissioned to write a  song to commemorate  this event.The scheme was originated by three film-maker students at Caerleon College, who were given a brief to make a short piece about Newport, They came up with the idea of  a song about the golf tournament. They contacted  the group who composed the song “golf is coming” The students then asked the group to invite the “City of Newport Male Choir” to sing the chorus. The CD was played to the Choir at a practice session, who readily agreed to sing the Chorus of the song.The song was recorded on the 19th April at a recording studio at Caerleon Campus.The students have filmed the journey of the song: the CD is due for release a month prior to Ryder Cup along with a music video.

            Goldie Lookin Chain”

The Choir had great night making the recording, the boys in the group were great fun to work with, and the students took a great deal filming of the proceedings. We wish the students and the group every success with their venture, and trust that when the song “Golf is coming” is released, it will truly put Newport on the map.
